CALL of DUTY Game Review Update
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Review: Best Call of Duty of a Decade
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is half prequel, half reboot in modern Warfare franchise. The game takes place before Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, but since it's a new fantasy for the whole story, developer Infinity Word still has plenty of room to revisit previous events, but change and expand them if you see fit. .
A few years after future entries, it's back to a more grounded, realistic military shooter (despite Call of Duty: WWII). Advanced mobility mechanics are gone - double-jumping and wall-running - and better readability. You're still able to slide on a crouch, and Infinity Word has added door-mechanics that allow you to slowly open or crack doors, making your entrances even more dramatic.
Similarly, the protagonist-shooter aspects of Black Ops 3 and 4 are no longer and and good movies with it. Like multiplayer you have different operators to play with, but no special ability to shuffle matches. Special Ops operators have passive and active capabilities, but it’s co-op and it’s still inferior to what we saw in last year’s game
.
And unlike Black Ops 4, Modern Warfare has a complete single-player campaign that’s well worth playing.
I’m a sucker for a good Call of Duty campaign, and I’ll be very forward on this: I like almost all of them. Some are better than others, but they are always entertaining. Also, you can fix the difficulty at exactly the level you want.

I played Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's campaign "Hardened" which means I die regularly but never get stuck. I’m going to play it again in “Veteran” to really raise the challenge, but there’s a pretty good balance between “tough” challenge and fun. The sum of it is “your skills will shrink”.
Anyway, I know there is some controversy about the historical historical accuracy of the game, but I'm going to review it based on my game experience rather than choosing the historical historical accuracy of a game that doesn't pretend to be anything other than total fiction.
The country of Uruguayan is believable, and while regional politics is certainly synonymous with conflict in the part of the world in which we find ourselves entangled, the game is using fictional heroes, villains and events, and that’s perfectly fine.
There are all kinds of historical fiction, where there are created countries and conflicts, we are talking about books, movies or video games. I am more interested in other questions, such as:
Was the story entertaining? Was it well written and well acted? Was it believable and consistent within the parameters determined by the fiction? Does it make me feel the thing? Did it talk about the larger issues of war in the modern era?
Call of Duty 4: From Modern Warfare (and also a couple of pre-Modern Warfare campaigns) I've played each Call of Duty campaign and I've enjoyed it a bit more than the others. Some of my favorites include Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Modern Warfare 2, Black Ops and Black Ops 2, World at War, WWII and Advanced Warfare.
It's hard to say where the Modern Warfare campaign sits in the rankings of those games, but it's been one of the funniest things I've ever done since the Modern Warfare trilogy, and I've probably put Black Ops 2 just above what I've enjoyed immensely.
Story And Missions
In need of this review, I will avoid spoilers outside of the basic premise thing as much as possible. You should run your own campaign to feel its various twists and turns.
Captain Price (now played by the very talented Barry Sloan) returns from the original, although he plays a much larger role in this game than CoD4. There are a few more familiar faces, though the price is the biggest.
Most of the other characters are new. A talented actor makes impressive writing and almost every cutie associated with facial graphics and animation enjoyable for a lifetime.
The game's two early playable characters are American CIA operative Alex (Chad Michael Collins) and SAS British soldier Kyle Garrick (Elliott Knight). You will play as freedom fighter Farah Karim (Claudia Dumitt) but in a very short time.
Like previous Modern Warfare games and the first two Black Ops games, the story takes place in "modern" times. It is not historical or future. Most of the story takes place in fictional Uruguay, although some of it takes place elsewhere, including in the UK.
The story makes the three factions stand against each other. There are US / UK forces who are allied with Farah's freedom fighters; The brutal Russian occupiers of Uzbekistan led by Roman Barkov; And Omar "The Wolf" Suleiman, led by the terrorist group Al-Qatala. With this three-pronged dynamic there are various twists and turns throughout the campaign, and you are beginning to realize that it is not exactly cut and dried as it seemed at first, but I will not waste any of it.
The game originally takes place in the current timeline, but occasionally goes back to the backstory of Farah and his brother Hadir. These are the sequences you play as Farah (for the most part). Everything else switches between Alex and Kyle and you will bounce everywhere for this mission.
The game often agrees with modern Warfare titles of the past, mirroring some sequences (though not replicated) to some of CoD4's best moments. For example, at one point you have to crawl under a truck in a caravan, and then a group of Russian soldiers is slowly passing by while the corpse is lying on the ground after a while. It certainly reminds me of "All Gilead Up" though much more concise and less original.
There’s another scene where you shoot small enemy soldiers and rockets at tanks and land them down which is similar to CoD4’s Death from Abo mission but again, much more a part of a much more brief and suffocating action than the almost isolated brutality of the original.
There are other, similar scenes but I will not waste any. To be honest I don’t mind these callbacks at all, although I’m not sure the game will ever rise to the level of CoD4 simply because it relies too much on these moments rather than creating new sequences as memorable.
Perhaps the most memorable sequence of Modern Warfare 201 in took place in the UK when Kyle and Captain Pierce cleaned up a building with terrorists and civilians inside, including women and children, along with other special forces units. I accidentally shot a woman and used her as a terrorist human shield. I also felt very bad. Another woman pulled a gun on us as we were cleaning the building. It was difficult to know who was the target and who was a civilian.
From start to finish, Modern Warfare Campaign is an exciting, challenging, brutal and beautiful experience. It’s Call of Duty, so don’t expect the most emotional or profound story. Expect an intense, action-packed shooter with lots of military sound, some surprisingly related characters, and lots of violence. It’s a great campaign and I’m thrilled that Infinity Word has taken the franchise back to the roots of its modern warfare.
I would say that the ending of a character has kept me a little cold. It seemed sudden and played for what it was. But for the most part, I liked how the game ended-the condemnation and credit-post scenes are great এবং and how it opens the door to many possibilities for the future of this series.
Multiplayer
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare multiplayer comes in two parts: Competitive Multiplayer and Co-operative Special Ops. These two modes carry progress and also cross story bits between campaigns and special ops, while multiplayer maps are often clearly inspired by campaign layers.
There has been a lot of trouble with the design of modern warfare maps, which is quite different from recent Call of Duty games, with most (though not entirely) abandoning the three-lane map structure of past maps in favor of more open-end maps. Many of these maps are filled with camping positions. This, combined with a brutally fast TTK (Time-to-Kill) could lead to a more cautious game-style, which some people think is more tactical and others hate.
I love it, quite frankly. It took me a while to get used to the new maps and game types, but I really enjoy them now, which I didn't like very much at first, such as Piccadilly, an urban map in London full of big buses, city streets and narrow interiors.
Other maps include more traditional themed three-lane-ish fares, such as Song Runner or Hackney Yard. Still others are spacious, such as the palace of Aniyah, which seems almost large for its own good.
Runnig-and-gunning may not work as well as it used to, but modern warfare is a bit slow and strategically less so slow or annoying. Yes, you can be killed more often by campers, but that means you have to adjust your playing style a bit. Be more careful. Where people like to camp. I know, change is hard. But in this case, I think it’s very good too.
The game is basically what you came to expect from Call of Duty, although there are a number of small additions such as the ability to mount the gun to your surface, such as the angle of the wall or the cover you're using. This is a great feature that I hope the franchise will continue to use in later games.
There are some cool little changes to the structure of the game that make it even more enjoyable. The "Pick 10" system is gone, allowing you to customize your loadout in more depth. Customization is further deepened by the gun-toting method, which allows you to tinker with numerous attachments for each of your weapons, each improving some sort of pro and con-stability but slow target-down-sight (ADS) and so on.
Even better, you can change between loadouts and attachments, there is something left in this series for a long time. Not happy with your assault rifle? Or just the opportunity you choose? Maybe you want to use some different benefits? These can all happen during the match. It's too cold.
Multiplayer now has a dominance of different types of matches, team death matches, etc., beyond the traditional themed game mode. It has it all, but now there are, 6 vs. 6, 10 vs. 10, 20 vs. 20 and even 32 vs. 32 on the ground, which is basically the battlefield version of Call of Duty.
One of the best new modes is Gunfight, which presets for quick-exploding matches on small maps, pitting two teams against each other with random cycling loadouts. It’s a fast-paced, incredibly competitive mode that’s a real blast, especially if you have a teammate-like. This is best if you play with a friend without being random.
This is also true of special ops, modern warfare cooperative multiplayer. It replaces Zombies (finally) and is a nice break from that mode. Consists of Special Ops Operation, Mission and, on PS4, Survival Mode. Operations are story-based material stages; Missions are shorter, less involved tests of efficiency; And Survival Mode একটি a wave-based hard mode is exclusive to the PS4 until October 1, 2020.
I’ve enjoyed a lot of operations so far, but your success really depends on your team actually playing like a team, and it’s randomly complicated. It's hard enough to dominate in objective multiplier mode in competitive multiplayer when half of your team wants to kill instead of just playing objective. It’s not the fault of the mode, of course, but it’s a challenge to overcome.
As everyone said, the wide range of motiplayer options offered in Modern Warfare works a wonderful amount for the players, gives the mode to play, overcomes the challenges. Speaking of which, there are daily and special challenges now (get the X number killing in shotgun style) now available and once the Battle Pass is live I am sure there will be more. Call of Duty: I have had the most fun in multiplayer since WWII launched War Mode, which reminds me that I really want this game to be War Mode. All right. You can't have everything.
Other changes from last year's game include a return to automatic healing. Infinity Word was wise to remove it from multiplayer (a annoying change in Black Ops 4) and campaigns (an annoying change in WWII) and so we came back to the traditional thematic automatic healing where the screen fades around the edges you hit and you Making loud noises.
And to top it all off, you can now play against friends on other platforms. For the first time, Call of Duty is launching with a crossplay between PC, PS4 and Xbox One, with a variety of options to make sure you don't take the controller with the mouse-and-keyboard player if you don't want to. Per. That means you can play with your friends who don't own the console, or with your brother who owns Xbox One instead of PS4 like you. It's awesome.
Graphics and Sound
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare may be the most photo-realistic video game I've ever played. The faces are as close to “real” as I’ve ever seen in a game. It is fantastic, especially capable of ray-tracing on PC. (Although you'll want to at least turn off the film-grain on the PC. It at least makes everything muddy on the MP).
I have played on PS4 and PC and although both look incredible, there is no doubt that PC is the winner. The game is sometimes just jaw-dropping, especially in campaigns that are rich with different environments, huge explosions and ridiculously lifelong faces.
As with the sound design, the footsteps are extremely loud during launch and the extra aggressive "chatter" in the multiplayer. These have been toned down, thanks.
Excellent weapon sound design is one of the reasons why the franchise's songplay is so good. Like the graphics, the sound design has also improved over the years and this makes the shooting harder and more intense.
Meanwhile, Sara Shachna's original score is great - an intense music companion for intense publicity. This is not my favorite Call of Duty OST In modern memory, I am Wilbert Rosette II and quite a part of WWII's OST by its glowing horns. But it’s pretty good, especially its Middle Eastern pieces like “Farah”.The game looks and sounds incredible. It’s almost embarrassing so a lot of ugly things happen in the campaign. This kind of beauty is combined with this kind of ugliness.
Bugs and Other Issues
So far, I've had very few problems with this game. I know it is not the case with many others. I’ve spent most of my time reviewing Modern Warfare on PC instead of PS4, and I’ve personally encountered the worst problems with graphical fiascos in multiplayer.
Once, I got into a match and had to leave because the light was so bright I couldn't see anything. It was like I just went to the eye doctors and widened my eyes and then shamelessly walked on a bright, sunny day. Sometimes the images are widely distorted and blurred.
I had no crashes, however, although I know it has plagued the Xbox community in particular and the PC community as well. Caution, then, you may experience crashes and other errors that I did not notice.
People have also complained about SBMM (skill based matchmaking) but I have not noticed anything very scary. Of course, sometimes I’m at more points than others, and sometimes I think I’ve met players who are ridiculously better than me and my team, but Call of Duty and that has always been an issue with other competitive online games.
I have also heard complaints about netcodes and lag compensation but in most cases (on my very fast internet connection) I have not noticed anything very serious, and I suspect that these have gone out of proportion as usual.
As far as joining matches is concerned, I've had a pretty easy time with it, usually finding new matches within a minute and loading quickly and without problems.
I played on two different desktops My new machine is an AMD Ryzen 3700X CPU, RTX 2080 Super GPU, with full SSD-based 32 GB RAM; My older PC has an i7-6700K CPU, a GTX 1080 GPU, a mix of SSD and conventional HD, and 16 GB of RAM. It works great on any machine, even though the older one doesn't have ray-tracing and can't run at the same height as the settings. I played on a QHD monitor, aka 2560x1440 resolution and had no frame-rate issues.
In any case, many of these problems should be ironed out with patches. From my personal experience, game-breaking isn’t happening at all, but Xbox One X players in particular had a hard time with tough crashes, so keep that in mind.
Verdict
So far, I’m having a great time with modern warfare. Returning to a modern environment is exactly the game I have been looking for for many years now, and I am thrilled that after some ambiguity Infinity Word has found its notch again. Although I enjoyed both ghost and infinite battles, I didn’t like any games. Infinite Warfare had quite a good campaign, but I was much less impressed by the future gameplay in multiplayer.
Modern Warfare 200 took the series back to its roots in 2007, but that's enough to keep the game fresh and exciting, and it looks stunning on both consoles and PCs.
What about a break from the zombie co-op with a strong campaign, big team ground war and 2 vs 2 gunfights, and special operations back?
It is important to note that the Battle Pass system has not yet been implemented. This year, all post-launch maps will be free, and Activation reports that Loot Box / Supply Drop is no more. Instead, a seasonal battle will surpass a La Fortnite, a cosmetic prize that you will earn through play. That’s all great news, but since they haven’t included it in the game I’m still not sure if it’s a good system. I will update this review once accordingly. Hopefully the activation won't pull any fun business, put loot boxes or payment maps on the street - but I won't put them in front.
Nevertheless, all the signs point to a big improvement in post-launch revenue and hopefully it will remain that way. Hopefully Infinity Word will keep players in touch with the issues at play, as open communication is important for the community and the game.
However, if you've stopped buying new Call of Duty games, or if you're sick of being a future shooter or the hero-shooter of Black Ops 4, it's time to return to the series. Even if you only play for promotion, I think it’s worth your time and money. I bought it with my buy / hold / sell rating.
